A pictureless post
I sit here this morning, knowing that I should post some recent photo shoots, but that- surprisingly- takes a lot of time, and time is something in short supply here these days. Instead, here are a few thoughts. Be forewarned, randomness is sure to ensue.
There’s been a lot going on lately. Erin Alaine Photography is finally starting to pick up in SoCal, and now I’m moving. Kinda bummed about that. Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited to move to Nashville. But it’s going to be tough to start all over, from scratch, not having anyone to be my advocate. My goal is to be able to travel to where the people need me, and I am going to get to do that a little this fall, but in a sense, I’m starting all over. That’s tough.
We are behind on the packing. Keith has been working a lot lately and hasn’t been able to help much. He’s such a hard worker, and I appreciate that so much, so don’t think I’m complaining. However, it is going a bit slower doing it by myself. The moving company is coming on the 19th. That’s a week from today. I better get my butt in gear.
I’ve *kind of* started running lately. A few weeks ago, I became inspired by our friend, John, to try to run at least a mile every day. All was good for a while, then 4 days ago, things became “too busy” and that was the first thing to go. Funny how that happens. Today I started back. I ran a mile and walked .15 miles as a cool down. For you serious runners, that’s not a lot, but I felt good just for making myself do it, when I wanted to curl up with my morning coffee. For as much as I hate running, my body loves it and responds to it well. I just need to let my brain in on the plan. Right now, it’s not getting the memo.
This week is my last week at my job. I’m going to seriously miss those kids. I keep saying things like, “Now you guys can come visit me.” or “When you get an email address, you can email me.” But it won’t happen. It never does. Every move is preceded by the best intentions to keep in touch, but it never happens like you think. Especially when the people you are wanting to keep in touch with are a 10, 11 and 12 year old.
After naming our dog Dexter, Keith and I are CONSTANTLY getting, “Oh! Dexter, huh? Do you guys watch the show?” Well, the answer is typically, “No, we’ve never seen it.” Not anymore. Keith bought the first season on DVD and we’ve successfully completed watching it. I must say, it’s kind of a dark show, but surprisingly addicting. We’re probably going to get the second and third season soon. I have to commend Showtime for creating a show that EVERYONE AND THEIR MOTHER thinks about when I yell for my dog at the dog park. Good marketing, Showtime.

During the writing of this post, I became increasingly aware of my abuse of the comma. I seriously over use it. I use to be the grammar master in school. Looks like I may need a little refresher.

I wish our doggies could meet! Packing sucks and I don’t envy you on that portion, although moving to Nashville sounds awful nice!
Can’t wait for the 3rd. It’ll be an experience for you…haha I’ll let you respond after you have experienced the evening.
I’m ecstatic that you guys are going to be a mere eight hours away! :^)
After talking with you and Keith about Dexter, we had to start watching it. We’re almost through season 2 – such a great show. Keep up the running! It can get to be addicting.
Even your pictureless posts are awesome. Erin, you’re going to make a name for yourself in Nashville. I have no doubt about it!
Maybe someday I can fly out and assist you with some southern weddings. :)
Good luck on your move. I enjoy your work. I am sure you will find plenty of opportunities in your new adventure.
